Welcome To
Cathy Jo's Bands
Aloha! January dates for Slightly Askew in Maui will be posted shortly.
Grumpy Kilt
Cathy Jo and her husband Joe have teamed up to form a duo that plays in Sammamish Washington during the summer and fall. We had a great 2024 season with some neighborhood music on the East Lake Sammamish Shore Lane as well as some early evenings at the Big Block Brewery—what a great venue. Be sure to check back for our 2025 summer and fall dates.
Slightly Askew
Cathy Jo and Joe Linn have joined with Mark White in Maui to form Slightly Askew. We cover a wide variety of songs including standards, country, rock, and blues, from the 1920s thru the 1990s. We just finished up a great season in Maui and plan to be back in January. Hope to see you then.
Our Band Members
Keyboard, Harmonica, Vocals
A few years back, CJ found the easiest way to be a member of a band was to start your own. So she did. First there was The CJIB, which started with 3 members and over the years had up to 7 members. Now she is back to a simpler, more streamlined form of 2 to 3 players so she can bring her music wherever she goes.
Lead Vocals, Guitar, and Manager of Butch
Joe has been singin’ and playin’ guitar forever. We think he’s pretty darn good and keeps getting better. As a young’un he played in Nashville garage bands and now plays everything from bluegrass to blues.
Lead Guitar And Vocals
Mark’s Stratocaster adds that extra electricity to Slightly Askew. He is a wonder at playing those deep blues and smooth jazz tunes.
Trumpet
Tim, one of the founding fathers of the CJB is currently on sabbatical in the great state of New Hampshire. There he plays in 2 bands, including a marching band. We miss him greatly and look forward to his visits to Sammamish when he steps right back into his place on stage.
Drums
Butch is our drum machine. While he adds a lot to both the bands, sometimes he misbehaves and becomes quite ornery. Joe shoulders the responsibility for keeping him in line.
I always think there’s a band, kid.
